Marginal
“Go”: a rideable window long enough to count. “Marginal”: it might work, not for long enough to promise. “No wind”: nothing rideable today. “Not yet”: too far out, or the models still disagree. Drawn as an outline, never a colour. The small line underneath says where the number comes from: which models, whether they are corrected against wind measured at this spot, and whether what you see was measured or forecast.

Alisios (the trades) reaches 17 kn, but not for long enough. It might work.

Hour by hour
Each bar is one hour's forecast, coloured by your range: solid inside it, amber just short or gusty, muted outside. On a day nothing reaches your range, nothing takes a colour: there is data, and it is honestly short.

09:0015:0020:00

Peak 17 kn at 15:00. Amber means gusty: the spread between average and gusts, not the strength, is what demotes those hours.

Why not
Two questions, answered separately: is the thermal setting up (the label), and does it build far enough for your minimum (the fill)? It can honestly set up and still stop short; then the gauge turns amber and the sentence names the gap.

The reef about 300 m out is very shallow, with sea urchins and fire coral; wear booties if you will spend time near it, and watch your feet when standing to land a kite. In winter the reef wave reaches mast high.

A small beach and the busiest kite scene in the Caribbean: do not ride right in front of the schools and hotels, and give lessons room. In July and August erosion narrows the beach; take extra care landing.

Kite Beach is the western end of Cabarete bay on the Dominican Republic's north coast, and the kite capital of the Caribbean: six-plus schools on the sand, a generation of Dominican pro riders raised here, and the Master of the Ocean contested out front since 2003. The trades blow most of the year and the bay sorts them: flat water inside the reef, waves on the reef, open ocean beyond.

About this forecastModel ensemble · not calibrated here yet · forecast, not measured

No openly available high-resolution weather model covers this spot (some commercial sites run private local models). The forecast runs on continental and global models, which resolve the coastline more coarsely; expect a wider margin than at a spot with a local model.

No live wind sensor here yet. The number above is forecast, not measured.
