Marginal
“Go”: a rideable window long enough to count. “Marginal”: it might work, not for long enough to promise. “No wind”: nothing rideable today. “Not yet”: too far out, or the models still disagree. Drawn as an outline, never a colour. The small line underneath says where the number comes from: which models, whether they are corrected against wind measured at this spot, and whether what you see was measured or forecast.

The wind reaches 11 kn, but not for long enough. It might work.

Models split: 3 of 7 agree, low confidence

Hour by hour
Each bar is one hour's forecast, coloured by your range: solid inside it, amber just short or gusty, muted outside. On a day nothing reaches your range, nothing takes a colour: there is data, and it is honestly short. Gusty hours are demoted: when the jump between mean and gust is big, an in-range hour shows amber. Here the spread, not the average, decides the day.

The curve is today's water level; the marker is now. The times are the next high and low water. Tide gets a card here because it genuinely changes the session at this spot; where it doesn't, no card is shown.

A real Atlantic tide. At high water El Cabezo's beach almost disappears and the rocks sit right under the entry; at low water there is sand to rig on all around the bay.

Local knowledge

El Cabezo is for solid levels: a partly rocky entry, rocks downwind, and at high tide almost no sand left. Gear failure there ends on the stones; if in doubt, ride the bay.

The shore is permanently buoyed into sectors: bathing, kite, windsurf and surf/bodyboard, with signs on the beach and each sector closed to every other use. Kiting lives in its zone by La Jaquita; respecting the buoys is what lets everything coexist on a few hundred metres of coast.

El Médano is Tenerife's wind town: a bay open to the trade wind under the red cone of Montaña Roja, with the kite zone by La Jaquita, windsurfing off Playa Sur and the World Cup wave at El Cabezo, all inside a few hundred metres of buoyed coast. Local guides speak of some 300 windy days a year, and every August the world's windsurfing elite competes here.

About this forecastModel ensemble · tuned on 510 measured sessions here · forecast, not measured

No openly available high-resolution weather model covers this spot (some commercial sites run private local models). The forecast runs on continental and global models, which resolve the coastline more coarsely; expect a wider margin than at a spot with a local model.

No live wind sensor here yet. The number above is forecast, not measured.
