No wind
“Go”: a rideable window long enough to count. “Marginal”: it might work, not for long enough to promise. “No wind”: nothing rideable today. “Not yet”: too far out, or the models still disagree. Drawn as an outline, never a colour. The small line underneath says where the number comes from: which models, whether they are corrected against wind measured at this spot, and whether what you see was measured or forecast.

The wind tops out at 3 kn. Nothing rideable today.

Hour by hour
Each bar is one hour's forecast, coloured by your range: solid inside it, amber just short or gusty, muted outside. On a day nothing reaches your range, nothing takes a colour: there is data, and it is honestly short. Gusty hours are demoted: when the jump between mean and gust is big, an in-range hour shows amber. Here the spread, not the average, decides the day.

Peak 3 kn at 16:00. Nothing reaches your range today, so the strip stays uncoloured: there is data, and it is honestly short.

Why not
Two questions, answered separately: is the thermal setting up (the label), and does it build far enough for your minimum (the fill)? It can honestly set up and still stop short; then the gauge turns amber and the sentence names the gap.

Local knowledgeLaunch only from the official Kitebeach at Mulets; the shore is a protected zone.

Launch only from the official Kitebeach at Mulets; the shore is a protected zone. Independent kiters need the Swiss Kitesurf membership (day, week or month), liability insurance valid in Switzerland and VDWS level 4 or IKO 3J. Private lessons are not permitted.

The kite and windsurf zones are strictly separate: windsurfers stay out of the kite zone, kiters stay out of the buoyed windsurf teaching zone. Keep 50 m off the shore.

About riding SilvaplanaSilvaplana is the lake where the wind blows the wrong way.

Silvaplana is the lake where the wind blows the wrong way. A daytime valley wind normally climbs its valley; in the Upper Engadin it comes up out of the Bergell, over the Maloja pass, and blows DOWN the valley across the lake. At 1790 m under Piz Corvatsch, every summer day asks the same question: does the Maloja come in today? That is exactly the question the verdict above answers.
