Marginal
“Go”: a rideable window long enough to count. “Marginal”: it might work, not for long enough to promise. “No wind”: nothing rideable today. “Not yet”: too far out, or the models still disagree. Drawn as an outline, never a colour. The small line underneath says where the number comes from: which models, whether they are corrected against wind measured at this spot, and whether what you see was measured or forecast.

Maestrale reaches 10 kn, but not for long enough. It might work.

Hour by hour
Each bar is one hour's forecast, coloured by your range: solid inside it, amber just short or gusty, muted outside. On a day nothing reaches your range, nothing takes a colour: there is data, and it is honestly short. Gusty hours are demoted: when the jump between mean and gust is big, an in-range hour shows amber. Here the spread, not the average, decides the day.

Why not
Two questions, answered separately: is the thermal setting up (the label), and does it build far enough for your minimum (the fill)? It can honestly set up and still stop short; then the gauge turns amber and the sentence names the gap.

The Marsala harbour office's ordinance 1/2019: inside the reserve you ride beyond 200 m from the shore (300 m outside it); never in or next to bathing zones, never within 200 m of nets, fishing or aquaculture installations, never within 500 m of a harbour entrance. Daylight only, 14 and over, minors under an adult's responsibility.

The lagoon is a nature reserve and a Natura 2000 site. In 2024 Legambiente argued that kiting in the reserve was not allowed without an environmental assessment; the Comune di Marsala answered that it is. Either way: launch from the schools' areas, give the islands and the birds room, and stay off the salt-pan banks.

Lo Stagnone is Marsala's lagoon, between Trapani and Marsala: seven kilometres of shallow, flat water closed off from the sea by Isola Grande, with Mozia in the middle and the windmill salt pans along the shore. The kite schools are all at Birgi Vecchi on the north-east shore, minutes from Trapani airport. The schools speak of some 300 windy days a year; the reason people come is the water: you can stand almost anywhere.
