No wind · WSW · 2–7 kn

No wind
“Go”: a rideable window long enough to count. “Marginal”: it might work, not for long enough to promise. “No wind”: nothing rideable today. “Not yet”: too far out, or the models still disagree. Drawn as an outline, never a colour. The small line underneath says where the number comes from: which models, whether they are corrected against wind measured at this spot, and whether what you see was measured or forecast.

The wind tops out at 9 kn. Nothing rideable today.

Hour by hour
Each bar is one hour's forecast, coloured by your range: solid inside it, amber just short or gusty, muted outside. On a day nothing reaches your range, nothing takes a colour: there is data, and it is honestly short. Gusty hours are demoted: when the jump between mean and gust is big, an in-range hour shows amber. Here the spread, not the average, decides the day.

Peak 9 kn at 14:00. Nothing reaches your range today, so the strip stays uncoloured: there is data, and it is honestly short.

Local knowledge

The south-easter runs side-shore along this coast and the water moves with it: gear failure means a fast drift out into Table Bay toward Robben Island, in water cold enough to end the swim. A kiteboarder died off this beach in September 2025. Ride with others, tell someone your plan, and never go further out than you can swim back in 14-degree water.

This is the Benguela, not the Med: 13-16 C most of the season, colder inshore when a long south-easter drives the upwelling. A full suit is standard even in January, and the cold is what turns a small problem far out into a big one.

Kite Beach at Table View is the postcard: Table Mountain across the bay, the tablecloth spilling over it, and a beach full of kites in the Cape Doctor, the south-easterly trade that made Blouberg one of the most famous kite coasts on earth. The wind comes in side-shore to side-onshore from the left, over cold Benguela water and sandy-bottomed kickers that roll all the way to the beach. In late November the Red Bull King of the Air is decided exactly here.

About this forecastModel ensemble · not calibrated here yet · forecast, not measured

No openly available high-resolution weather model covers this spot (some commercial sites run private local models). The forecast runs on continental and global models, which resolve the coastline more coarsely; expect a wider margin than at a spot with a local model.

No live wind sensor here yet. The number above is forecast, not measured.
